If like me, you didn't particularly understand music when taught at school, then this is the book for you.
I've always wanted to be able to play an instrument. I chose the keyboard, mainly because it can also be played so that it sounds like other instruments as well. Including piano.
This book takes you from the absolute beginning, it assumes that the reader has absolutely no understanding of music at all. Then the author takes you gently by the hand, so to speak & explains things carefully. There are even little quizzes along the way to ensure that you are grasping the subject matter correctly!
Slowly and surely the reader is taken step by step, through the different stages, so that if you work your way through the book properly you should end up being able to play the piano or keyboard to a good basic standard, not to mention that you will also have gained quite a good basic understanding of music theory as well.
There is as always some downsides to a book like this. With this one it's simply that with the rate that keyboards evolve & update these days, some of the information on them is somewhat outdated. But with everything taken into account, this is by far the best book for beginners both young & old that I've come across. Well worth the money & it certainly helped me. There is even a link to some online info so that you can listen & hopefully understand what's been written more clearly.
What more could you ask for? So to all you would be musicians go ahead, buy it, I don't think you will be disappointed, Good luck & happy playing.
